Cynthia Jean Walker, a 66-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically shot and killed on her front porch in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the evening of July 8, 2022. Known affectionately as "mom" by many in her community, she was a beloved figure who was remembered for her caring nature and for feeding everyone. The incident, which has been described as domestic violence-related, cut short a life that was cherished by family and friends.
On that Friday night, just before 9:30 p.m., tragedy
struck at Walker's home near 44th and Meinecke. The quiet of the evening was shattered by a "loud pop," a sound that was followed by a devastating discovery. Walker's own 7-year-old grandson found her bleeding on the porch after hearing the noise and what sounded like something falling. This heartbreaking event left her family, including her daughter Keasha Walker, in deep sorrow.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Milwaukee police arrested a 61-year-old man, Allen Dale Grant, in connection with Cynthia's death. Family members identified Grant as Walker's boyfriend. He was subsequently charged with first-degree intentional homicide. The investigation revealed that Grant had a history of legal troubles and had been released on a reduced bail just months before the incident.
Further investigation by the authorities uncovered a grim sequence of events. Prosecutors allege that on the same night he killed Walker, Grant was also responsible for the death of his neighbor, Eduardo Hernandez, just 30 minutes earlier. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Grant pulling up to Walker's residence, walking up to her as she sat on her porch, and shooting her in the head before driving away. Grant was apprehended by police hours after the two homicides following a car crash. A handgun and a spent casing that matched the type used in both shootings were reportedly found in his vehicle.
