In the late afternoon of a Thursday in early April 2019, a domestic dispute shattered the quiet of a Newcastle apartment complex. Neighbors in the 7300 block of Coal Creek Parkway Southeast grew alarmed as they overheard a heated argument between a man and a woman, followed by the sound of two gunshots. The conflict took an unexpected turn when a bullet pierced through the wall of an adjacent apartment, striking an uninvolved neighbor.
The injured man was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
When deputies from the King County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, they found the woman involved in the dispute, but the man had already fled. Authorities identified the man as 18-year-old Demetrius Guice. A bulletin was issued, describing him as armed and dangerous and providing details of the white 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander he was driving. A search for Guice was immediately launched as the investigation into the shooting commenced.
The search for Demetrius Guice came to a somber end the following morning. The King County Sheriff's Office announced that they were no longer looking for the 18-year-old. He had been found deceased.
