Carlos Mejia, a 44-year-old resident of Salinas, California, tragically lost his life on May 20, 2014. Mejia's death was the result of a police-involved shooting, which occurred during a confrontation with Salinas police officers. On the day of the incident, officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported that Mejia had attempted to break into her home and had threatened her dog.
