On the evening of December 29, 2019, James Andrew Richardson III, a 20-year-old Black male, was driving south on State Route 509 in Seattle. An aspiring local rapper known as "Tanaa Money," Richardson was accompanied by a passenger as they traveled near the South Park neighborhood. Suddenly, another vehicle pulled alongside theirs in the HOV lane, and occupants within unleashed a volley of gunfire.
