In the early morning hours of October 30, 2022, the life of 20-year-old Alistair Waggoner, a Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Moses Lake, Washington. Officers responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 6 a.m. in the 3000 block of Road H NE. Upon arrival, they discovered Waggoner, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite any efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting revealed
that it was a targeted incident, not a random act of violence. Another individual, a 17-year-old male, was also shot during the same event. He was transported to a local hospital in a private vehicle, where he received treatment for his injuries and was subsequently released. The Moses Lake Police Department assured the public that there was no ongoing danger related to this specific incident and that it was not connected to any gang activity or another recent shooting in the area.
Within days of the fatal shooting, law enforcement made significant progress in the case. Two 16-year-old boys were identified as suspects and taken into custody. The first teenager was arrested on the morning of October 31st on Westshore Drive in Moses Lake. The second suspect turned himself in to the authorities in Ephrata on November 2nd. Both teenagers were charged with first-degree murder for the death of Alistair Waggoner and first-degree assault for the injuries sustained by the 17-year-old victim. Additionally, they faced charges of theft of a firearm, and the weapon believed to have been used in the crime was recovered by police. Due to their status as minors, the names of the two suspects have not been publicly released.
