In the summer of 2018, the life of David Johnny Moeller, a 26-year-old White / Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in Moses Lake, Washington. On the evening of July 25, 2018, a dispute over the ownership of a Jeep escalated into a fatal confrontation. The argument led to a physical altercation, culminating in Moeller being shot. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m.
in the 12000 block of Baseline Road E.
Following the sound of gunshots, neighbors found Moeller and rendered aid until deputies arrived. He was then transported to Samaritan Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. The man identified as the shooter remained at the scene and was reported to be cooperating with the ensuing investigation conducted by the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, authorities did not file any criminal charges against the shooter, and his identity was not publicly released. The investigation was ongoing, and the Sheriff's Office appealed to the public for any additional information regarding the case. David Moeller, a 2011 graduate of Moses Lake High School and a seven-year employee of Hampton Construction, was remembered by his family and friends for his kind heart, infectious smile, and reputation as a hard worker.
