In the late spring of 1904, a dedicated lawman named James Day, a 30-year-old male, met a violent and untimely end. Having served with the Letcher County Sheriff's Office for only three months, Deputy Day was just beginning his career in law enforcement in the community of Whitesburg, Kentucky.
