On December 26, 1908, Deputy Jailer Logan Young, aged 50, of the Jessamine County Sheriff's Department in Kentucky, was fatally wounded while attempting to arrest a mentally ill man who had been threatening a family member. Upon arrival at the residence, Deputy Young and a fellow deputy sought to detain the individual.
