On the evening of September 3, 2020, a tragedy unfolded in the west end of Louisville, Kentucky, that cut short the life of 31-year-old Devin Thomas Eggers. A White male, Eggers was discovered in the 2400 block of Portland Avenue just before 10:30 p.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Alongside him, another man, 52-year-old Zachary Stewart, was also found deceased at the scene, a victim of the same violent act.
Devin, born and raised in Louisville, was known for his love of
boxing and a deep sense of spirituality, often taking a moment for prayer before meals. He was a father to four children who were left to navigate a world without him. Those who knew him remember a man who loved his family and friends profoundly, leaving a significant void in their lives.
In the wake of the double homicide, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation into the deaths of Eggers and Stewart. Despite the passage of time, the case remains an open and active investigation. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shootings, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that might lead to a breakthrough in solving this tragic and unresolved crime.
