In the bright light of a Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, the mundane task of a visit to the driver's license branch on Dixie Highway turned into a scene of terror and tragedy. On February 21, 2025, 18-year-old Leslye Harbin Jr., a Black male, was shot and killed in a brazen attack that also claimed the lives of two women, 33-year-old Antwanette Chillers and 29-year-old Raysa Pacios Valdes.
The sudden eruption of gunfire sent people scrambling for cover, their errands and appointments forgotten in an instant of sheer panic.
Witnesses recounted a chaotic and horrifying sequence of events. Two masked men reportedly ran up and opened fire, striking Harbin multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene from his gunshot wounds. The two women were also shot and were rushed to the hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries. The attack was described by at least one witness as appearing targeted. The assailants were seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle, disappearing into the city's traffic.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the triple homicide, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting that cut short the lives of three people in broad daylight. The community was left shaken by the violence, with many expressing shock and concern for their safety in a place they considered to be safe. Police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the deaths of Leslye Harbin Jr., Antwanette Chillers, and Raysa Pacios Valdes.
