On a tragic early morning in Henderson, Kentucky, the life of 26-year-old Rachael Vasquez was cut short in a wave of violence that stunned the community. The date was June 25, 2008, when a workplace dispute escalated into a deadly mass shooting at the Atlantis Plastics factory. Vasquez, along with several of her co-workers, became the victims of a disgruntled employee's rage.
The perpetrator was identified as 25-year-old Wesley Neal Higdon, a fellow employee at the plastics plant.
Reports from that day indicate that Higdon had been involved in an argument with his supervisor, Kevin Taylor. Following the altercation, Higdon was being escorted from the building. Instead of leaving the premises, he retrieved a. 45 caliber handgun from his vehicle and began his deadly assault.

After his attack on the innocent victims in the break room, Higdon located and shot another co-worker on the factory floor before turning the gun on himself, ending his own life.
