In June of 2015, the life of 27-year-old Brandon Bryant of Jeffersonville, Indiana, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. His body was discovered in the Shawnee neighborhood on a Thursday morning, located in an alley at 30th Street and West Chestnut. Initially, police indicated that Bryant likely died from some form of blunt force trauma, though the specific cause of death was pending an autopsy.
The investigation into Bryant's death swiftly led to a suspect.
Trice Whaley, a 21-year-old man from Jeffersonville, was arrested just days later in connection with the homicide. Authorities determined that Whaley had shot Bryant, stolen property from him, and then left his body in the alley where he was later found.
Ultimately, Trice Whaley was charged with murder and robbery for his role in Brandon Bryant's death. In January 2018, Whaley pleaded guilty to the charges against him. As a result of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting and killing of Brandon Bryant.
