In the fall of 2015, the community of Richmond, Kentucky, was shaken by the loss of one of its own. Senior Patrol Officer Daniel Neil Ellis, a 33-year-old dedicated member of the Richmond Police Department, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound on Friday, November 6, 2015. Ellis, a seven-year veteran of the force, left behind a wife and a young son. His death stemmed from an incident that occurred two days prior, while he was investigating an armed robbery.
