In the summer of 2016, a birthday celebration in Louisville, Kentucky, turned into a scene of tragedy, leaving two families mourning and a community shaken. Andre Mosley, a 47-year-old Black male, was one of two individuals fatally shot on the night of August 9, 2016. The incident occurred at a 60th birthday party in the Parkland neighborhood, located at 26th and West Kentucky Street.
Gunfire erupted outside the gathering, striking three people.
Mosley, along with 36-year-old Lashay Dorsey, succumbed to their injuries. A third victim was also wounded in the shooting but survived. Friends and family of Mosley described him as a father, and those who knew both victims said they were hardworking individuals who had simply come to enjoy the party.
In the immediate aftermath, investigators from the Louisville Metro Police Department worked to piece together the events of that evening. They sought to determine whether the shooting was a drive-by or if the assailant or assailants had approached the party on foot. Despite a large number of people being present at the celebration, authorities reported that no witnesses had come forward with information that could lead to an arrest.
As of today, the case remains an open homicide investigation. The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to ask for anyone with information regarding the shooting death of Andre Mosley and Lashay Dorsey to come forward. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murders.
