On a cold Saturday, February 4, 2017, the life of 53-year-old Clancy Ray Adkins was tragically cut short in his own home on Coon Branch Road in Pikeville, Kentucky. A retired bricklayer and a man who had bravely battled and overcome leukemia, Adkins was looking forward to an evening spent with friends, planning to cook dinner and watch a University of Kentucky basketball game. That evening, however, would never come to be.
Sometime during that day, Adkins, a White male, was fatally shot.
It was his own son who made the devastating discovery later that evening, finding his father deceased inside the residence. The investigation, led by the Kentucky State Police, revealed that Adkins had been shot through the front door of his house. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain shrouded in mystery, with no apparent struggle or items taken from the home.
Despite the passage of time and an ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Clancy Adkins, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
