On the evening of October 15, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of an East Hartford, Connecticut neighborhood, leaving a family and community to grapple with a sudden and tragic loss. The victim was identified as Omar Thompson, a 31-year-old Black male from Hartford. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 79 Smith Drive at approximately 8:35 p.m.
