On a summer evening in East Hartford, Connecticut, the life of Sean William Arcari, a 40-year-old Caucasian male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On Sunday, July 23, 2023, police responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment building on Burnside Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Arcari with a fatal gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate medical attention provided by emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggested that Arcari was involved in an altercation that tragically escalated to gunfire. The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, prompting an intense investigation by East Hartford detectives. The incident was believed to be isolated, though the suspect was considered armed and dangerous.
The investigation quickly led to a person of interest. A witness told detectives they had been sitting with Arcari on a second-floor landing when Arcari went to an apartment occupied by a man he knew as "Kevin." An argument over drugs reportedly ensued between the two men, during which Arcari pushed the other man back into his apartment. Gunshots rang out, and the suspect was seen fleeing the building.
Within days, police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Keiran Walker. He was taken into custody on Wednesday night after a brief foot chase as he exited an apartment building on Burnside Avenue. While initially held on an out-of-state warrant from New Jersey, Walker was subsequently charged with the murder of Sean Arcari. In addition to the murder charge, Walker faced charges for illegal possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. He was held on a $2.5 million bond. A search of the apartment where the shooting occurred uncovered a New Jersey license and Social Security card for Walker, along with bags of fentanyl, cocaine, and two shell casings.
