In the early hours of a Saturday in East Hartford, Connecticut, the life of a 36-year-old Black / African American man, Michael Manson Jr., was tragically cut short. On March 12, 2022, just before 2 a.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night in the area of Chapel Street. Responding to reports of the shooting, police officers arrived to a grim scene.
Inside a vehicle, a short distance from Main Street, they discovered Michael Manson unresponsive. He had sustained gunshot wounds.
The officers immediately began life-saving measures, performing CPR before he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Manson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The violence of that morning did not end with Manson. A 31-year-old woman from Bristol was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to her arm. Her injuries were considered non-life-threatening, and she received medical treatment.
In the days that followed, the East Hartford Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. They appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Manson's death. As of the latest available reports, the investigation was ongoing, and no arrests had been announced, nor had any suspects been publicly identified in connection with the shooting.
