On a summer evening, a 27-year-old Black male from the Hartford area, Gregory S. Clark, found his life irrevocably altered. On August 6, 2015, a report of a disturbance brought East Hartford Police and State Troopers to the vicinity of a commuter parking lot near the Charter Oak Bridge around 9:20 p.m. The initial call led them to the intersection of Silver Lane and Main Street, where they discovered Clark inside a white Dodge Charger, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Investigators
determined that the shooting had not occurred where Clark was found, but rather in the nearby commuter lot off Route 15, a location designated as state property. After being shot, it appears Clark managed to drive about a block before stopping. He was immediately transported to Hartford Hospital for medical attention. For over a month, he fought for his life, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on September 17, 2015. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled his death a homicide.
In the wake of the shooting, detectives from the Central District Major Crime squad took over the investigation. They secured the scene and searched the area for witnesses and potential suspects, but no other victims were located. Authorities assured the public that they did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the community. Despite the investigation and public appeals for information, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the killing of Gregory S. Clark. The case has remained unsolved, leaving a void of answers for his family and friends.
