In the quiet town of Henderson, Kentucky, a tragedy unfolded that left a family shattered and a community in mourning. Laura Katherine Poole Eastwood, a 28-year-old Caucasian woman, was found deceased in her home on February 15, 2017. Her life, full of love for the outdoors and spontaneous adventures with her two children, was cut short in an act of violence that would be ruled a murder-suicide.
Laura, a 2006 graduate of Henderson County High School, was known for her vibrant spirit and
her skills as a welder, a trade she excelled in after attending Henderson and Madisonville Community Colleges. She found joy in simple pleasures, like four-wheeling, taking impromptu road trips, and listening to country music. Her family remembered her as a compassionate and loving mother, whose world revolved around her children.
The investigation into Laura's death revealed a grim picture. The Henderson County Coroner's Office determined that she had been fatally shot by her 31-year-old husband, Kyle Ray Eastwood. After taking his wife's life, Kyle then turned the gun on himself. The incident left their two young children orphaned and in the care of relatives.
In the wake of the tragedy, the community rallied around the grieving families. A GoFundMe campaign was established to help with funeral expenses and provide support for the Eastwood children. Funeral services for Laura were held at the Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, and she was laid to rest at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Webster County, leaving behind a legacy of a life remembered for its warmth and love, tragically extinguished too soon.
