In the summer of 2017, the life of 30-year-old Bobby L. Hubert, a White male from Summershade, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On July 31, 2017, an argument between Hubert and his roommate, 46-year-old Bobbie Darrell Lawson, escalated to a fatal conclusion. Inside the residence they shared on Nobob Summer Shade Road, Lawson shot and killed Hubert.
The discovery of Hubert's body in August of that year launched a homicide investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
Their efforts quickly led to the identification and arrest of Lawson. He was taken into custody and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. In addition to the primary charge of murder, Lawson also faced charges of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse, painting a grim picture of the events that transpired after Hubert's death.
The legal proceedings against Bobbie Darrell Lawson culminated on May 29, 2019. On that day, he was convicted in Metcalfe County for the murder of Bobby L. Hubert and for tampering with physical evidence. For the murder conviction, Lawson was sentenced to a term of 20 years in prison. He is currently incarcerated at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex. According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, his parole eligibility date is set for August 6, 2034, with a maximum expiration of his sentence on August 5, 2037.
