Antwand Lamar Hendricks Sr., a 45-year-old male, tragically lost his life on the evening of Friday, October 28, 2022, in Louisville, Kentucky. Known affectionately as 'Shootie,' he was a beloved figure in his Beecher Terrace community, a place he called home his entire life. His sudden death sent ripples of sorrow through his family and friends, who remembered him as a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like playing dominoes, cheering for the New England Patriots, and watching the History Channel.
The fatal incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. in the Russell neighborhood, at the intersection of 13th and Jefferson streets. First responders arrived to find Hendricks suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the shooting.
In the weeks that followed, investigators pieced together the events that led to Hendricks's death. Their efforts culminated in the arrest of 45-year-old Torrey Cross on November 25, 2022. Cross was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the shooting. The investigation revealed that surveillance footage captured the moment a vehicle pulled up next to Hendricks, and shots were fired from within. The vehicle was located the following day, and shell casings found inside matched those recovered at the crime scene, indicating they were fired from the same weapon. Further investigation placed Cross's cell phone in the vicinity of the shooting at the time it occurred. Body camera footage from a traffic stop prior to the shooting also showed Cross driving the same vehicle and as the sole occupant.
At the time of his arrest for the murder of Antwand Hendricks, Torrey Cross, a convicted felon, also faced unrelated charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and two counts of trafficking controlled substances.
