A quiet and respectful young man, Jonathan Meristil, was found deceased in his Lexington, Kentucky, home on Transylvania Park, near the University of Kentucky campus. The 21-year-old male was discovered on December 24, 2019. An investigation by the Lexington police revealed that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Jonathan, who was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 22, 1998, was a graduate of Tates Creek High School.
At the time of his death, he was working at a Red Roof Inn and pursuing a degree in graphic design at Somerset Community College, with aspirations for a career in music and art. He was known to his friends by the nicknames “JJ”, “Jony”, and “Jojo”.
The coroner's office officially pronounced him dead at the scene, and his death was ruled a homicide. Despite the ongoing investigation into the shooting, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains open as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
