In the late summer of 2018, the life of 34-year-old Jotez Mantell Beason of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On Monday, September 10, 2018, Beason became a victim of gun violence, a devastating event that left his family and community searching for answers. A graduate of Warren Central High School and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, he was a father to a daughter, Jolyssa Beason.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain shrouded in mystery, as his case
is one of several unsolved homicides in the Bowling Green area. Despite the efforts of the Bowling Green Police Department, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. The investigation into who is responsible for his death is ongoing, and law enforcement has previously asked for the public's assistance in bringing those responsible to justice.
Tragically, Jotez's death was not the first time his family had experienced such a profound loss. A year prior, his brother, Xzavion L. Beason, also died as a result of violence. Xzavion, who was 30 years old at the time, was assaulted in front of a nightclub in the early morning hours and succumbed to his injuries a few days later. His case also highlighted the challenges of finding witnesses willing to come forward with information. The Beason family has thus been forced to endure the immense pain of losing two sons to violent acts in a short period, with justice for Jotez remaining elusive.
