A 32-year-old man, Desmon T. Cunningham, lost his life in a shooting that occurred in April 2020 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The incident took place in the early morning hours on a Saturday at an apartment complex on Glen Lily Road. When officers from the Bowling Green Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Cunningham with a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led police to identify a suspect, Jaydarin R. Starks. An arrest warrant for murder was issued for Starks. Believing he had fled the state, the Bowling Green Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in locating him. The subsequent search for Starks spanned multiple states.
A breakthrough in the case came when investigators learned that Starks was likely in Peoria, Illinois. Acting on this information, the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with the Peoria Police Department, located and apprehended Starks. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Peoria County Jail, where he awaited extradition back to Kentucky to face the murder charge.
