In the quiet community of Woodbine, Kentucky, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of Vicki S. Connor, a 57-year-old female resident of Corbin. On the evening of Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at approximately 7:30 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London received a distressing call from Whitley County 911 about a shooting at a residence on KY HWY 1064.
Upon their arrival at the scene, troopers discovered Vicki S. Connor with what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound.
The Whitley County Coroner's Office pronounced her deceased at her home. As the investigation into the circumstances of her death progressed, it soon became a murder investigation.
Authorities quickly identified a suspect in the case. An arrest warrant for murder was issued for Nicholas M. Rucker, a 38-year-old man from Corbin, who was identified as the victim's boyfriend. The Kentucky State Police sought assistance from the public, requesting that anyone with information regarding the investigation or the whereabouts of Mr. Rucker come forward.
