In the early hours of May 22, 2019, the life of 25-year-old Lashard Manuel Harrison was tragically cut short in Radcliff, Kentucky. A male resident of nearby Vine Grove, Harrison was discovered deceased in the parking lot of the Pin Oak Apartments, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation into Harrison's death quickly revealed a grim narrative of a drug deal turned fatal robbery.
According to police reports, four men arranged to purchase pills from Harrison with the premeditated intention of robbing him. After the exchange of money for the pills, Harrison was shot multiple times.
Authorities moved swiftly, and within days, arrests were made in connection with the homicide. Four Elizabethtown men were taken into custody: Tyler Lawrence, age 20; Elijah Barnett, age 22; Donyale Jones, age 27; and Temorris Davis Jr., age 21. All four men faced charges of murder and robbery for their roles in the deadly encounter.
During the course of the investigation, Lawrence admitted to police that he and the others had orchestrated the drug deal as a setup to rob Harrison. He confessed to firing his handgun at Harrison, and police stated that Barnett and Jones also fired shots. The Hardin County Commonwealth's Attorney announced the intention to seek the death penalty for all four suspects, citing the robbery as an aggravating factor that made the murder charge eligible for capital punishment.
