On a tragic evening that should have been filled with celebration, 18-year-old Jarrett Anthony Banks Jr., a Black male, was fatally shot in Radcliff, Kentucky. The incident occurred on the night of January 2, 2025, a day that marked his birthday. A senior at North Hardin High School, Banks was also known by the nickname Rico Doyle.
Radcliff Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Potomac Street at approximately 10:45 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Banks lying in a driveway with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a hospital in Louisville for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries and passed away the following morning.
Law enforcement officials have stated their belief that the shooting was a targeted and isolated incident, posing no ongoing threat to the public. Despite this, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case. The Radcliff Police Department's investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains active. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Jarrett Banks Jr., leaving a community to mourn the loss of a young life cut short.
