In the early morning hours of April 29, 2015, the quiet neighborhood of Radcliff, Kentucky, was disturbed by a grim discovery. A 28-year-old Black man named Cordell D'Shaun Richardson from Louisville was found inside a car, having been shot to death. Radcliff Police were called to the scene at the end of Woodland Drive near the Pin Oak Apartments around 6:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers quickly determined that Richardson was deceased inside the newer model Buick.
The investigation that followed revealed he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, with rounds fired through the vehicle's window.
The investigation into Richardson's death became a collaborative effort, with the Radcliff Police Department bringing in the Kentucky State Police to assist with fingerprinting and evidence collection. Despite these efforts, the killer remains at large, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case. Investigators were initially unable to determine why Richardson, a resident of Louisville, was in that particular Radcliff apartment complex, as he did not live there. The case has since gone cold, leaving a lingering sense of unresolved justice.
Cordell Richardson's mother, Shawntel Eddins, has spoken publicly about her son, remembering him as a good father to his three children and pleading for anyone with information to come forward to help solve his murder. Richardson himself had a troubled past, with a criminal record that included convictions for drug possession, burglary, and firearm possession by a convicted felon. He had also previously been indicted for a 2011 murder in Louisville, though the case was ultimately dismissed due to issues with a witness. While his past was complex, his family continues to seek closure and answers in his unsolved slaying. The Radcliff Police have encouraged anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line.
