In the summer of 2020, the life of 57-year-old Vicki Renee' Betts of Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On the morning of Friday, June 26, 2020, Betts was shot and killed on Dixie Highway near Hale Avenue. The incident occurred around 10:28 a.m., after which she was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, the assailant fled the scene in Betts' vehicle, a black 2019 Honda Fit.
Law enforcement identified 31-year-old Jennifer Kemp as the suspect and an arrest was made later that same afternoon. It was reported that Kemp's one-year-old child was with her in the stolen vehicle. Police later confirmed that the child was found safe.
Vicki Betts was remembered by friends and family as a beautiful soul who would do anything for people and always had a beautiful smile. She is survived by her mother, step-father, two children, and two grandchildren.
