In the summer of 2020, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Micheal Wayne Turner, a 22-year-old male, was fatally shot on August 9, 2020, in Bullitt County. The incident unfolded near Triangle Lane, where deputies from the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office responded to a call and discovered Turner with a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Turner's death swiftly led authorities to a primary suspect: 21-year-old Trenton Schaaf. Law enforcement located Schaaf in Louisville, where he was placed under surveillance by the Metro Police. Upon his return to Bullitt County, a confrontation ensued. Schaaf, who was armed with a pistol, attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement. The gun he was carrying matched the description of the one taken from Turner. According to an arrest warrant, a witness informed police that Schaaf admitted to shooting Turner, believing that Turner was setting him up to be assaulted. Schaaf was subsequently charged with murder, robbery, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and was held at the Bullitt County Detention Center.
Micheal Wayne Turner, born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 18, 1997, was remembered as a person who loved sports and enjoyed being with his friends, often making people laugh with his goofy personality. He attended North Bullitt High School. His passing left a void in the lives of his family, including his parents, siblings, grandparents, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, followed by his burial in Brookland Cemetery.
