Yuri Valcarcel-Herrera, a 41-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot in his Shepherdsville, Kentucky, home on November 24, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. on West Hebron Lane, stemming from a dispute over the title of a 2008 Pontiac that Valcarcel-Herrera had sold to one of the suspects for $5,000 earlier in the year.
Two men, identified as 20-year-old Fulton J. Mucker Jr. and 24-year-old Benjamin A.
Williams, both from Louisville, arrived at Valcarcel-Herrera's residence. An argument ensued, escalating to the point where Mucker and Williams allegedly opened fire. Multiple shots were fired at Valcarcel-Herrera, who was unarmed, as well as his brother and sister-in-law who were also present in the home. Valcarcel-Herrera was struck in the chest and transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after noon. His brother returned fire in self-defense, but did not hit either of the suspects. The gunfire penetrated several walls inside the house, endangering other family members.
Following the shooting, Mucker and Williams fled the scene. They were apprehended the next day in Louisville's Chickasaw neighborhood with the assistance of the Louisville Metro Police Department's Fugitive Unit. Both men have been charged with murder, attempted murder, and first-degree wanton endangerment. Upon their arrest in Louisville, they also faced charges of tampering with physical evidence and fleeing or evading police. They are being held on a $1 million bond.
