In the early evening of September 1, 2020, tragedy struck in Louisville, Kentucky, claiming the life of 54-year-old James Donald Howard, Jr. The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Arling Avenue and Whitmore Avenue. Louisville Metro Police officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both injured men were quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for urgent medical care.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, James Donald Howard, Jr. succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second man involved in the shooting also died from his injuries.
In the wake of the double fatality, homicide investigators with the Louisville Metro Police Department began their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. A spokeswoman for the department later indicated that they did not anticipate making any arrests in connection with the case. It was stated that 'all parties have been accounted for,' suggesting that law enforcement had identified everyone involved in the incident and did not have any outstanding suspects to pursue. The investigation did not lead to any publicly announced arrests or the naming of any specific suspects in the death of Howard.
