In the spring of 2022, a life was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Lamont Hobbs Jr., a 32-year-old male, was shot and killed on April 28th. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded around 9 a.m. at the intersection of West Jefferson and South 11th streets in the Russell neighborhood. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Hobbs suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the violence erupted following a brief verbal altercation. Surveillance footage partially captured the dispute that preceded the fatal shot. In the wake of the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department worked to identify and apprehend the person responsible for Hobbs' death. Their investigation led them to a suspect with a familial connection to the victim.
In July of that year, an arrest was made in connection with the murder of Lamont Hobbs Jr. Mickeal Taylor was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. It was revealed that Taylor's wife was a family member of Hobbs, adding another layer of tragedy to the senseless act of violence. Following his arrest, Taylor was held at Louisville's jail on a $250,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
