In the chill of a January evening in Louisville, Kentucky, tragedy struck the Taylor Berry neighborhood. On January 9, 2024, William Kannamore, a 31-year-old male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 3300 block of Utah Avenue. Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the reported shooting at 9:22 p.m. and discovered Kannamore in critical condition. They rendered aid at the scene, applying a chest seal and a tourniquet before he was rushed to UofL Hospital.
Despite their efforts and emergency surgery, he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
The initial investigation by the LMPD's Homicide Unit began without any known suspects. However, their work led them to identify a person of interest. Shaveon Boyd, a 25-year-old man from Pekin, Indiana, was later arrested in Ohio in connection with the fatal shooting. Boyd has since been charged with the murder of William Kannamore, bringing a measure of progress to a case that began with a public appeal for information. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter.
