In the late afternoon of October 31, 2024, a chaotic scene unfolded on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 264 in Louisville, Kentucky. A black Honda, driven by 36-year-old William Houston Joshua McPheeters, suddenly lost control near the Breckenridge Lane exit. The vehicle flipped and collided with two other cars, bringing a section of the busy Watterson Expressway to a standstill.
The incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., initially appeared to be a tragic, multi-vehicle accident.
First responders and several Good Samaritans rushed to the overturned Honda to render aid to the driver. However, upon reaching McPheeters, they made a grim discovery.
