In the early morning hours of December 19, 2020, the life of 47-year-old Eric Carson was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in the Shively area of Louisville, Kentucky. Police responded to a call around 7 a.m. in the 4100 block of Hillview Avenue, where they discovered Carson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators were able to obtain surveillance footage from the street where the shooting occurred.
The video showed a black Ford Taurus pull up behind Carson's parked vehicle. An individual is seen walking back and forth between the two cars before four gunshots are heard, followed by the sound of a car horn. The suspect's vehicle was identified as possibly matching a black Ford Taurus owned by Brandon Bartee, 39, of Louisville.
Less than two weeks later, a significant development was made in the case. On December 31, 2020, Brandon Bartee was arrested and charged with the murder of Eric Carson. In addition to the murder charge, Bartee also faced a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. A search of Bartee's home revealed a 9mm magazine with ammunition that matched the casings found at the crime scene.
