On the night of January 10, 2021, a tragic series of events unfolded in Covington, Kentucky, involving 32-year-old Jerome Edward Lewis II, a Black male resident of Cincinnati. Lewis had spent several hours patronizing the 30 Something Bar, located at 732 Greenup Street. As the evening progressed and the establishment neared its closing time just after midnight, staff members escorted him out of the premises.
Shortly after being removed from the venue, Lewis returned to the sidewalk
directly in front of the bar. According to police reports, he was armed with a pistol upon his return. In the moments that followed, a shooting occurred in which Lewis sustained a single, fatal gunshot wound to his left temple. Law enforcement and emergency responders arrived at the scene, but he succumbed to his injury.
The Covington Police Department subsequently launched a homicide investigation into the incident. Detectives collected evidence from the scene and conducted multiple interviews with potential witnesses who were present that night. despite these efforts and the classification of the case, authorities announced that they were unable to establish a viable suspect in the shooting. Consequently, no arrests were made, and no charges were filed in connection with his death, leaving the investigation without a named perpetrator.
