In the late summer afternoon of August 24, 2021, the life of 23-year-old DeAndreius JQuan Cochran was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in the Newburg neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Responding to a report of a shooting just after 2:45 p.m., Louisville Metro Police officers arrived at the 4200 block of Norene Lane, where they found Cochran suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, between two apartment buildings in the residential area.
The Jefferson County deputy coroner later confirmed that DeAndreius Cochran, a male, died as a result of his gunshot wounds. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials began their investigation into what they described as a tragic situation, one of over 130 homicides in the city that year.
Despite appeals to the public for information, the Louisville Metro Police Department reported that they had no suspects in connection with the shooting. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line as they worked to piece together the events that led to Cochran's death. The case remains an open investigation, leaving a community to mourn and a family to seek answers in the unresolved loss of a young life.
