In the final days of November 2021, a tragedy began to unfold on Interstate 264 in Louisville, Kentucky, that would cut short the lives of a young woman and her unborn child. Twenty-year-old Shania Lee Summers, a Black female, was a passenger in a car on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, when another vehicle pulled alongside and its occupants opened fire. Shania was struck by the gunfire and rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition.
