In early January 2022, concern began to mount for 40-year-old Timothy Wayne Frazer when he uncharacteristically failed to show up for his job in Louisville, Kentucky. A missing person report was filed on January 6, launching an investigation into his sudden disappearance. For weeks, there was no sign of Frazer, and the questions surrounding his whereabouts grew more troubling with each passing day.
The initial break in the case came nearly a month later, not with the discovery of Frazer, but with the location of his car. On February 2, 2022, police found 23-year-old Hunter Thrasher driving Frazer's vehicle, a significant development that would quickly unravel the tragic events that had transpired.
The following day, on February 3, 2022, the investigation led officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department to a home in the Taylor Berry neighborhood. In a detached garage behind the residence, they made a grim discovery. The body of Timothy Frazer was found concealed under trash bags and wrapped in duct tape. An autopsy by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office would later confirm that Frazer had died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. The discovery of Frazer's body in such a manner painted a brutal picture of his final moments.
With the discovery of Frazer's body, the pieces of the investigation began to fall into place, with Hunter Thrasher at the center. It was revealed that Thrasher and Frazer had a prior connection, having been cellmates at the Louisville Metro Corrections facility. Investigators were able to link Thrasher to the crime scene through a backpack and DNA evidence. Further solidifying the case against him, a spent shell casing and evidence of Frazer's blood were found in the vehicle Thrasher had been driving. The last incoming call to Frazer's phone was also traced back to Thrasher. On the same day that Timothy Frazer's body was found, Hunter Thrasher was arrested and charged with his murder.
In the months that followed, the legal process unfolded, culminating in a resolution in April 2025. Hunter Thrasher pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including murder and abuse of a corpse. As part of his plea agreement, Thrasher admitted to shooting Frazer, wrapping his body in trash bags and duct tape, and leaving him in the garage. He was subsequently sentenced to 22 years in prison for his role in the death of Timothy Wayne Frazer. The sentencing brought a close to a case that began with a man's mysterious disappearance and ended with the conviction of his killer.
