A 27 year old father of 5 is shot to death while walking home from work In the late evening of April 30, 2013, a 26-year-old Black male named Jarvis B. Carson was walking home from his job in Louisville, Kentucky. As he made his way down Oak Street, between Sixth and Seventh streets, the night was shattered by the sound of multiple gunshots. Witnesses reported hearing as many as a dozen shots fired in quick succession, possibly from more than one weapon.
Shortly after the gunfire, a motorcycle and a car were seen leaving the area.
When police responded to the reports of a shooting at around 10 p.m., they discovered Carson lying in the middle of the street. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled to officially determine the cause of death. In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement had not identified any suspects and made no arrests.
Jarvis Carson was a father of five children, all of whom were under the age of ten at the time of his death. His family described him as a beloved father with an energetic personality and a huge smile, who adored his children. The shooting tragically occurred on his daughter's birthday. In the years following his death, Carson's murder has remained unsolved, leaving his family without answers. While police have indicated that they were looking into possible suspects and that more than one person may have been involved, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the case.
