In the late morning of August 21, 2022, the vibrant life of William Virgil Smith III, a 36-year-old man, was tragically cut short in the Chickasaw neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Around 10:30 a.m., officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 3700 block of West Broadway. Upon their arrival, they discovered Smith on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
William, who was born on September 7, 1985, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, was a resident of New Albany, Indiana. He was known by those close to him for his passion for drawing and music. His untimely death left behind a loving family, including his children, Tayhjon Winburn and Arionna Jackson; his mother, Carol Moore; and his siblings, Brandon Smith and Jasmine Moore.
