In the early morning hours of September 2, 2022, a domestic dispute in a residence on the 2200 block of Devonport Drive in Lexington, Kentucky, escalated to a fatal conclusion. Juan Mondono Fonseca, a 26-year-old male, was shot during the altercation. Lexington Police officers responded to the scene around 12:55 a.m. and discovered Fonseca with a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Fonseca to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
He was pronounced dead at 1:52 a.m., as confirmed by the Fayette County coroner's office. The cause of his death was the gunshot wound he sustained during the incident.
At the scene of the shooting, police took a 17-year-old male juvenile into custody. The teenager, who resided at the same address as Fonseca, was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a minor. According to police reports, the shooting occurred following a domestic violence altercation involving Fonseca and a third party.
