On April 20, 2014, Poth Accouth, a 22-year-old man from Bellevue, Nebraska, was tragically shot and killed in Mankato, Minnesota. The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kato Ballroom, where Accouth had attended a Sudanese cultural event following a basketball tournament at Minnesota State University. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Accouth died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
