On April 20, 2014, Poth Accouth, a 22-year-old man from Bellevue, Nebraska, was tragically shot and killed in Mankato, Minnesota. The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kato Ballroom, where Accouth had attended a Sudanese cultural event following a basketball tournament at Minnesota State University. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Accouth died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Despite the presence of numerous witnesses at the scene,
the shooter has not been identified. The Mankato Police Department has been actively seeking information from the public to help solve the case, but no arrests have been made.
