On April 20, 2017, Philip Charles Borer Nelson, a 31-year-old Black male from St. Louis Park, Minnesota, was tragically shot and killed in a Columbia Heights apartment. Nelson, known for his role as a student advisor at the High School for Recording Arts in St. Paul, was found dead behind a couch with multiple gunshot wounds. He was remembered by colleagues and students as a dedicated mentor and a loving father of four children.
