On June 6, 2017, 37-year-old Melvin Anthony Felton was found with a gunshot wound on the front step of a house located on the 3300 block of Newton Avenue North in Minneapolis. The incident occurred around 5:55 p.m. Responding officers from the Minneapolis Police Department discovered Felton with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was immediately transported to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
