On a Friday night in Minneapolis, March 16, 2018, the life of 18-year-old Norea Stephon Wilford was tragically cut short. In south Minneapolis, at the intersection of 43rd Street East and 1st Avenue South, reports of gunfire prompted a police response at approximately 10:30 p.m. Arriving at the scene, officers found evidence of a shooting but were unable to locate a victim.
A short time later, a call came in from the Hennepin County Medical Center reporting that a man had been brought to the emergency room in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound. That man was identified as Norea Stephon Wilford. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and, despite medical efforts, succumbed to his injuries in the emergency room. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later confirmed his cause of death as a homicide.
It is believed that Wilford, a resident of St. Paul, was involved in a dispute that escalated into gunfire. Despite the ongoing investigation and pleas from the Minneapolis police for public assistance, no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The case remains unsolved, and authorities have continued to ask for anyone with information to come forward.
