In the early hours of Saturday, March 14, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in a Minneapolis parking lot, leaving one man dead. Maslah Aden Khalif was standing with a group of people in the lot on the 2300 block of Hennepin Avenue South when the shots were fired into the crowd at approximately 1:30 a.m.
First responders arrived to find Khalif with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound.
Despite immediate medical aid provided by officers at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Hennepin Healthcare. The preliminary investigation suggests that the gunfire came from outside the group Khalif was with.
As of now, the Minneapolis Police Department has not made any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators are actively working to determine the sequence of events that led to the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Police Chief Brian O'Hara stated that the department will do everything they can to bring those responsible for the "senseless violence to justice." The investigation is ongoing.
