Salad Abdi Sahd, aged 32, was fatally shot on September 25, 2018, while sitting in his car in south Minneapolis. The incident occurred in the afternoon at the intersection of Bloomington Avenue and E. 21st Street. According to police reports, a man approached Sahd's vehicle and opened fire with a handgun before fleeing the scene in a waiting car driven by another individual. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Sahd's identity and age.
A suspect, a 29-year-old man from Minneapolis, was arrested approximately 12 hours after the shooting. The arrest took place around 3:30 a.m. the following day. The suspect resided about five miles southeast of the crime scene. At the time of the arrest, the police had not yet determined whether the arrested individual was the shooter or the driver of the getaway car. The suspect's name has not been disclosed as he had not been formally charged.
The investigation revealed that the suspect walked up to Sahd's car and fired multiple shots before escaping in a vehicle driven by an accomplice.
